Overland Park, KS- This morning, Yoder for Congress launched its latest television ad of the 2018 election cycle, titled "My Son."

Watch "My Son" here: https://youtu.be/zwUlQzHYiRk

The ad highlights the story of a local mother named Stephanie Freeman, whose son Henry was born with cystic fibrosis and depends on specialized care and treatments to live a normal life. Thanks to America's amazing medical research institutions, Henry is thriving and on his way to college next year.

Kevin Yoder has been a nationally-recognized champion for the medical research community, leading the fight to secure a 30% increase for research funding at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) over the last four years. He also worked across the aisle in 2016 to help pass the 21st Century Cures Act, which was signed into law by President Barack Obama and championed by Vice President Joe Biden.

Under the health care plan supported by Sharice Davids, families like the Freemans who have loved ones with pre-existing conditions will be faced with the uncertainty of government control and long wait times for specialized care.

The legislation would:

  • abolish all forms of private health insurance, and do it virtually overnight
  • kick 178 million Americans off their existing health coverage - which 8 in 10 people say they are very or somewhat satisfied with
  • force every American onto a single government health care program similar to the program that exists in Canada, which produces the worst and longest wait times for patients seeking specialized care
  • end Medicare as we know it for seniors who depend on it
  • compel 1 in 5 hospitals in America to close or become non-profits - again, virtually overnight
  • cost taxpayers $32 trillion over the next ten years on top of existing programs
  • require the largest tax increase in modern American history, more than doubling federal taxes for everyone including the seniors who have already spent their entire lives paying into the existing Medicare system
