Yoder Campaign Highlights How Sharice's Single Payer Plan is Bad for Seniors in Latest TV Ad

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wednesday, September 26, 2018

Overland Park, KS - This morning, Yoder for Congress launched its latest television ad of the 2018 election cycle, titled "Promise."

Watch "Promise" here: https://youtu.be/Vb7rAzrvkpc

The ad highlights how HR 676, the single payer health care legislation Sharice Davids has agreed to cosponsor in Congress, would affect seniors like Jack and Gloria Shelton who have paid their entire lives into our existing Medicare system and are depending on the government keeping up its end of the bargain.

Under Sharice's single payer system, the Sheltons would see Medicare eliminated in favor of a new European-style socialized medicine system and a massive tax increase on their retirement income to pay for it.

The legislation would:

  • abolish all forms of private health insurance, and do it virtually overnight
  • kick 178 million Americans off their existing health coverage - which 8 in 10 people say they are very or somewhat satisfied with
  • force every American onto a single government health care program that would replace the existing safety net programs for seniors and low-income Americans
  • end Medicare as we know it for seniors who depend on it
  • compel 1 in 5 hospitals in America to close or become non-profits - again, virtually overnight
  • cost taxpayers $32 trillion over the next ten years on top of existing programs
  • require the largest tax increase in modern American history, more than doubling federal taxes for everyone including the seniors who have already spent their entire lives paying into the existing Medicare system
