Overland Park, KS - This afternoon, Yoder for Congress announced that it has accepted the opportunity participate in a fifth debate in this election cycle moderated by Fox 4 Kansas City. Campaign Manager CJ Grover issued the following statement with the announcement:
"It's stunning that Sharice Davids would refuse to participate in debates hosted by longstanding, respected organizations like the KCK Chamber Congressional Forum or the Johnson County Public Policy Council. It clearly illustrates how out of touch she is with respect to our community here in the Third District.
"Because we don't want to shortchange the voters, we have been very open about agreeing to debate her in other settings. Today, we have engaged in conversations with Fox 4 Kansas City to participate in an in-studio debate. And that's in addition to ongoing conversations with KMBC 9 News for the same, and in addition to the three debates we agreed to in August."
Tomorrow, Yoder will participate in a candidate forum with the non-partisan Kansas City Kansas Chamber Congressional Forum, which he agreed to five weeks ago. Congressional Forum has been meeting regularly every month in KCK for 50 years, beginning with Larry Winn. Every candidate from both sides of the aisle, from Jan Meyers to Dennis Moore to Kevin Yoder, has participated in the forum.
Sharice Davids has refused to attend due to an as-yet unexplained "scheduling conflict," ending the 50-year tradition.
