Overland Park, KS - A debate was supposed to happen this morning in Miami County between Sharice Davids and Kevin Yoder, but the Louisburg and Spring Hill Chambers of Commerce were forced to cancel the event because they never got a response from the Davids campaign.
Sharon Mitchell, President and CEO of the Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:
"Today's candidate forum was originally planned as a Third Congressional District Debate, which Congressman Yoder agreed to participate in. Unfortunately, we did not get a response from the Davids campaign and decided to move forward with a Kansas House District 29 forum instead."
This marks the fifth debate that Yoder has agreed to but Davids has refused to attend. Davids has now skipped a debate in each of the three counties in the Third District, including one that she had previously agreed to but backed out upon learning Yoder would be able to attend.
The next scheduled debate that Yoder has agreed to is Monday morning on KCMO Talk Radio. Davids has yet to respond to the offer.
